본문 1609 AD: The Douay Old Testament is added to the Rheims
New Testament (of 1582) Making the First Complete English Catholic Bible;
Translated from the Latin Vulgate (80 Books).
1611 AD: The King James
Bible Printed; Originally with All 80 Books. The Apocrypha was Officially
Removed in 1885 Leaving Only 66 Books.
No common person could
understand the Latin Bibles which the church read and
taught.
Butmany common people could read the Bible because of translating
the Bible into the English. Besides, the printing press made it possible for
every man to know.
Tyndale New Testament (1525-1535)
Having
Gods Word available to the public in the language of the English, would have
meant disaster to the church. If people were able to read the Bible in their own
tongue, the churchs income and power would crumble. The Church burned
distributions of theTyndale New Testament and decided to strangle and burn
Tyndale at the stake in 1536.
Matthew – Tyndale Bible
(1537)
John Rogers printed Matthew – Tyndale Bible under
the pseudonym "Thomas Matthew", (an assumed name that had actually been
used by Tyndale at one time) as a considerable part of this Bible was
the translation of Tyndale, whose writings had been condemned by the English
authorities.
Douay-Rheims Bible(1582 - 1610)
The Douay-Rheims
Bible is a translation of the Bible from the Latin Vulgate into English. The
New Testament was published in one volume with extensive commentary and notes in
1582. The Old Testamentfollowed nearly thirty years later in two volumes; the
first volume in 1609, the second in
1610.
